New faculty members at the Liceu Conservatory for the 2026–2027 academic year

A total of eleven new lecturers will join the teaching staff at the Liceu Consevatory in the 2026–2027 academic year.

Daniel Muñoz Osorio, Maria Camahort, Gemma Tatay, Júlia Sesé, Nieves Aliaño, Guillaume Terrail, Josep Buforn, Anna Crexells, Pep Garau, Pau Vidal and Gemma Abrié are joining the teaching staff at the Liceu Conservatory to contribute their artistic and teaching expertise to the centre’s higher education programmes.

The composer Daniel Muñoz-Osorio is a graduate of the Liceu Conservatory and furthered his studies in composition in Graz and Dresden under the guidance of leading international composers. Throughout his career, he has received various prestigious awards and scholarships, and his music has been performed in various European countries by leading ensembles and soloists. He is now joining the Department of Composition and Theory to teach courses in Composition Techniques and Analysis. The Department of Pedagogy is further enriched by the arrival of Maria Camahort and Gemma Tatay. Maria Camahort is a guitarist, composer and teacher with an international career as both a performer and a creator. Her work has received various awards and has been performed in various European countries and in the United States. Gemma Tatay, a graduate of the Liceu Conservatory and holder of a diploma in Music Education from the University of Barcelona, has built an extensive career as a choral conductor and music teacher.

In the field of chamber music, Nieves Aliaño and Júlia Sesé are joining the programme. Nieves Aliaño is an assistant flutist with the Orquestra del Gran Teatre del Liceu and a member of the SenArts Quintet, with whom she performs extensively in concert. With an extensive educational background culminating at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, she has collaborated with various European orchestras and has been recognised with major international awards. Júlia Sesé holds a degree in Choral Conducting and Classical Singing and combines her career as a singer and choral conductor with an active teaching practice. She has conducted various ensembles and has collaborated with institutions such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Palau de la Música Catalana.

Guillaume Terrail joins the String Department as a cello lecturer. Guillaume Terrail has been assistant principal cellist with the Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphony Orchestra since 2016 and is highly active as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe. Trained in Lausanne and Karlsruhe, he has collaborated with prestigious ensembles and international conductors.

Pep Garau, Pau Vidal and Gemma Abrié are joining the Department of Jazz and Modern Music. Pep Garau is one of the leading trumpeters on the Balearic jazz scene, renowned for his sensitivity and interpretative versatility. Trained at the Liceu Conservatory, he has collaborated with prestigious artists and ensembles on the national and international scene. At the same time, he leads a number of his own projects in which he combines the jazz tradition with contemporary and Mediterranean influences. For his part, Pau Vidal is a musician, composer and creator specialising in contemporary popular music, with jazz and Cuban music as his main focuses. He leads the TARQUIM project and has collaborated with numerous artists on the national and international scene as a performer, composer and arranger. He has also composed film soundtracks and develops his own projects in the field of music production. And finally, the singer Gemma Abrié, who is also a composer, double bassist and teacher, with an extensive artistic and teaching career linked to jazz and modern music. Trained at the Conservatoire National de Paris, she has led various projects of her own and has collaborated with leading national and international ensembles and artists. She currently combines her concert activities with teaching at various higher music education institutions.

Finally, Josep Buforn and Anna Crexells are also joining the Vocal Department as accompanists. Josep Buforn is an accompanist and vocal coach with over twenty-five years’ experience in recitals, opera and chamber music. Trained in Barcelona and London, he has worked with leading singers and renowned conductors. Anna Crexells is a pianist specialising in vocal accompaniment, trained at the Liceu Conservatory, where she has frequently been invited to take part in projects. She has worked as a pianist and musical assistant with Spain’s leading opera houses and with prominent international conductors and singers.

With these new appointments, the Liceu Conservatory Foundation reinforces its commitment to excellence in music education, offering programmes that feature the finest professionals on both the national and international stages.
