Studying and living in Barcelona

Barcelona is a cosmopolitan city, modern, lively, and bright. A city of thousand faces that began its history in the 1st century BC with the establishment of the walled Roman colony of Barcino. Barcelona is also currently recognized as a global city due to its cultural, financial, commercial, and tourist importance.

The capital city of Catalonia, Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain. It has a population of 1.6 million inhabitants (3.2 million inhabitants counting the metropolitan area). Bathed by the Mediterranean Sea, its optimal location, its mild climate and the open and cosmopolitan nature of its people, make the Catalan capital city a privileged place to live.

Barcelona is the only city that has 9 UNESCO World Heritage sites, many of them linked to the same name: Antoni Gaudí, the architect who is a symbol of the modernism. You can visit his great creations: the Casa Batlló, the Pedrera, the Park Güell and the Sagrada Família, among others.

The city has been able to gather tradition and modernity, and its potential has turned it into a pole of attraction of new trends from around the world. Music, design, fashion, art and cinema professionals are the stars of the dynamic city rhythm. For this reason, it has a multicultural population; and in its streets, Catalan and Spanish languages mix with other ones from the four corners of the world. The cultural offer is very wide, and sports, leisure and nature activities complete the array of opportunities in Barcelona. It is a perfect place to combine academic activity of reference with social activity of quality.
