To be able to respond to the educational objectives of the Curriculum and the requirements demanded of the future professional musicians, by a constantly changing world, renowned visiting teachers visit our lecture rooms every year. They complement the students’ work together with their main teacher and enrich their learning through a different and international vision of the present pedagogical trends. Also, their exceptional advice belongs to the experience of great soloists and big names of today’s stages.
They all configure an ambitious masterclasses’ program, which is possible thanks to the sponsorship of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation. The program is fully established in the present educational offer and can be considered, without no doubt, as one of the more complete and rich music masterclasses’ programs in the country. The program wants to be a point of attraction for all the music students and melomaniacs around us.
Thus, the Liceu Jazz concert cycle brings together the best musicians from the Voll-Damm Barcelona International Jazz Festival to our halls. They offer their exceptional skills to the Jazz and Modern Music students. During the last years, Chucho Valdés, Chano Domínguez, Ambrose Akinmusire, Jere Laukannen, Tomatito, Jack DeJohnette, Terence Blanchard, The Bad Plus, Miguel Zenón, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, John Abercrombie, Christian Scott, Fred Hersch, Pat Metheny or Jim Black, among many others, have visited us.
The Liceu Cambra has also allowed us to get closer to the most respected soloists and orchestra musicians in the classical and contemporary scene. They are legends such as José van Dam, Grace Bumbry, Dalton Baldwin, Martin Fröst, Mariella Devia, William Kinderman, Dmitri Alexeev, Wolfgang Boettcher, Carlos Álvarez, the Casals Quartet, the Hagen Quartet, Ramón Ortega, Manuel Blanco, Francisco Araiza, Oren Marshall, Pavel Vernikov, and many more.
