The Bachelor of Music in Classical and Contemporary Music Performance, Major in Piano, is one of the most prestigious and historical programs at the Liceu Conservatory. Nowadays, the Liceu Conservatory counts on a Piano Department composed of very prestigious concert pianists, linked to the most important performing traditions. They range from names of the most respectable trends of the international piano world to the heirs of the prestigious Catalan School.
The Bachelor Curriculum allows working with very varied repertoires and gives great significance to the ensemble music. The Piano students get their teaching lessons not only in chamber music but also in the art of the accompaniment. They also practice the improvisation and acquire knowledge about historical keyboard instruments. Altogether, the students have at their disposition the 90 classrooms of the Center equipped with Steinway and Yamaha pianos, always in optimal conditions, ready for the classes.
The Center’s students have a program of visiting teachers and Masterclasses, as well as several opportunities to perform auditions and internal and external concerts. The Liceu Jove concert cycle organized by the Department (with the opportunity of playing at the Centers’ Auditorium and with its exceptional pianos: the Steinway & Sons model D and the Yamaha CFX Full Concert Grand Piano artisan series) provides these concerts. There are, also, other opportunities to perform in renowned music seasons and other events, as soloists or in different ensembles.
