Liceu Cambra — Masterclasses & Concerts is a unique artistic and educational initiative in the country, focused on classical and contemporary music and comprising the most compelling masterclasses by great masters of the international scene and concerts in different formats that bring together on stage our students and professors with world‑famous guests.
This series reaches its eleventh edition this year, fully consolidated as an initiative of the highest musical interest, as an ever eagerly awaited meeting point for the students of the Liceu Conservatory with today’s great musicians, and as a fixture for Barcelona’s music lovers to hear the finest music.
The prominence of the Liceu Conservatory students is not limited to these concerts, since this edition of Liceu Cambra will also feature the repertoire of the Conservatory’s major classical ensembles: the Symphony Orchestra and the Symphonic Band will each offer two concerts. The Chamber Choir made up of students from the Voice Department will also present programs focused on vocal polyphony.
Opera also has its place at Liceu Cambra, with a high‑level production of one of the most beloved titles in the operatic repertoire, The Marriage of Figaro, by W. A. Mozart, performed by the students of the Master’s in Opera Performance accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra, as well as in the customary Escenes Líriques program, in which advanced Voice students will present this year a proposal based on great arias and operas from Giacomo Puccini.
You can also enjoy the project led by professor and Head of the Strings Department Corrado Bolsi, in which Music dialogues with other artistic and scientific disciplines, turning Liceu Cambra for the second year into a space for alternative proposals and different concert formats. The collaboration of a lecturer expert in the theme that unifies each concert gives another dimension to the performance of the ensemble made up of students and professors of the Conservatory. This activity seeks to promote new forms of artistic expression and to become an open window onto new ways of connecting with the public and of enriching Music by placing it in relation with other fields of human activity and curiosity.
