Daniel Muñoz-Osorio began his musical studies at the Conservatori Professional de Música de Badalona and graduated from the Liceu Conservatory, where he studied with Michel Wagemans (piano) and Benet Casablancas (composition). He expanded his composition studies with excellent results at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz with Beat Furrer and at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden with Mark Andre and Stefan Prins.
Furthermore, he has attended classes with renowned composers such as Tristan Murail, Stefano Gervasoni, Hèctor Parra, Chaya Czernowin, Michael Jarrell, and José Manuel López López, among others. Throughout his career, he has been awarded the Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga Young Composers Prize (Fundación SGAE-CNDM, 2016), the Extraordinary Composition Prize of the Conservatori del Liceu (2017), the Noosa-ISAM Prize (2018), and the Förderpreis of the Leipzigmusikstiftung (2021). His artistic career and projects have received support from the Fundació Universitària Agustí Pedro i Pons, the DAAD, the Generalitat de Catalunya, and the Barcelona City Council.
His music has been performed in Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, and the Netherlands by prestigious ensembles such as the Dresden Sinfonietta, Arditti String Quartet, Vertixe Sonora Ensemble, Contemporary Insights, and Limba Ensemble, as well as by prominent soloists like Ricardo Descalzo and Joan Martí-Frasquier. In addition, he has participated in leading festivals and concert series, including the Impuls Academy in Graz, The Next Generation, Beethoven Schnittpunkte, Festival New Horizons, Festival Mixtur, Festival Barcelona Modern, and Festival Música d’Ara.
He is currently the coordinator of the International Composition Course Barcelona Modern, a role he combines with his career as a composer and pedagogue.
