The Cross of Sant Jordi by the Generalitat de Catalunya The government of the Generalitat de Catalunya, during the April 10th, 2012 session, agreed to award the Liceu Conservatory Foundation with the Cross of Sant Jordi during the 175th anniversary of a Center for Music Studies that has been, historically, the best one in the country, having a prestigious cultural dedication. The best Catalan singers have trained themselves in its Singing classes. The Center also has been the driving force of well-known composers and instrumentalists, thanks to a top-level faculty. The award ceremony was on April 20th at the historic Sant Jordi Hall at the Palau de la Generalitat, chaired by President Artur Mas, the Minister of Culture, Ferran Mascarell and the Government Secretary, Germà Gordó. The Golden Medal for Cultural Merit by the Barcelona City Council The Municipal Council Plenary session of the Barcelona City Council agreed on the 27th April 2012 to award the Liceu Conservatory with the Golden Medal for its 175th anniversary of valuable task related to teaching, promoting and spreading the music culture all over the country. It was granted on October 10th at the Saló de Cent by Mayor Xavier Trias, who defined the Liceu Conservatory as “one of the institutions that has helped Barcelona most to present itself as a cultural capital city.” The Deputy Mayor of Knowledge, Creativity and Innovation of the Barcelona City Hall, Jaume Ciurana, emphasized that “it has always very linked to the city, to the culture and to the city’s music […] the music of Barcelona and our country would be different if there didn’t exist the Liceu Conservatory”.
The Golden Medal by the Gran Teatre del Liceu The Gran Teatre del Liceu Foundation, at the Executive Committee session on January 24th, 2013 agreed to award the Liceu Conservatory with the Golden Medal. It was in recognition of its excellent educative task in the music world, steadily, for 175 years and its striking and close link with the Gran Teatre del Liceu. The Medal was handed over on April 30th at the Mirrored Salon. Josep Maria Coronas, president of the Liceu Conservatory, glossed, in an emotive speech, the close and historical correlation and the shared origins between these two institutions. The Special Mention by the Amics de la Rambla Association The Special Mention was granted on October 16th, 2012 at the Reials Drassanes in Barcelona on the 175th anniversary of the Liceu Conservatory. These awards, granted every year during the Roser Festivities (La Rambla’s main festivities), acknowledge the admiration and dedication of persons, entities, and organizations in favor of La Rambla. The ceremony counted on the presence of the President of the Generalitat, Artur Mas, and the city Mayor, Xavier Trias, in addition to a large representation of the cultural world, the restaurant businesses and the commercial sector in Barcelona.
175 years Homage – Barcelona Chamber of Commerce
Homage celebrated on October 23rd, 2012 during the Chamber Day at the Llotja del Mar, where every year the chamber institution of Barcelona acknowledges and awards the career of the enterprises of Barcelona and its surrounding area celebrating iconic anniversaries. During the ceremony, the Chairperson of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, Miquel Valls, emphasized the importance of the undertaking. He also stated that all the awarded enterprises were created by “visionary persons, full of courage or with a lot of faith in its businesses possibilities.” The ceremony closed with the intervention of the Minister of Enterprise and Occupation, Francesc Xavier Mena.
The European Excellence Award – European Development Foundation AEFE
It was received on October 27th, 2012, on occasion of its 175 years of contribution to the Universal Value through the music as a cultural hub. The European Development Foundation AEFE, sensitive to the arduous task of those institutions and organizations that have worked through the years in favor of the culture and/or charitable organizations, created the “European Charity and/or Cultural Excellence Award” to publicly acknowledge everyone who daily works in support of the cultural, social and/or charity values. The AEFE Foundation President, Mr. Jorge Castellá de Cot, granted the award.
