The importance of the operatic activity in Barcelona and the intimate relation always maintained by the Gran Teatre del Liceu with the Liceu Conservatory –who promoted its creation– has had a logical consequence: opera and singing have always been one of the main keys of the Center’s educational activities. All this historical and cultural legacy, presently reflected in a prestigious Bachelor of Music in Classical and Contemporary Music Performance Major in Singing, attracts students from all over the world. This Major counts on a team of teachers with great experience in the international opera world, and in genres as Lied or Oratory. It also has the collaboration of expert répétiteur pianists and visiting teachers.
In addition to the Chamber Choir and several activities of music performance in all genres, the Singing Department, together with the Chamber Music, Orchestra and Ensembles Department, offers the opportunity to acquire experience in the lyric scene through opera concerts at the Liceu Jove concert cycle. There, the students have at their disposal the accompaniment of orchestral groups formed by other students of the Center. Moreover, the professional practices allow them to perform several concerts as soloists or in the choir outside the Center.
