Pau Vidal is a musician, composer and creator specialising in contemporary popular music, using jazz as a cross-genre creative language, alongside Cuban music/salsa and other popular genres. His work centres on his roles as a performer (flutist/saxophonist), composer and arranger, both for his own projects and on commission.
Having graduated with a degree in jazz transverse flute performance from the ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya), he continued his studies in popular and folk music in Havana (Cuba).
He leads the solo project TARQUIM, which has released three albums and several singles that have received various nominations (Best Album, Best Group, etc.) and have taken him on tours across Europe and Latin America. As an arranger, he has worked with artists such as Julieta Venegas, Enrique Bunbury (whose album was nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2021), Amaia, “Centenari d’Antonio González El Pescaílla” at La Mercè (2025), Yadira Ferrer, Manuel Masaedo and the Big Band del Maresme… And as a performer, he has worked with artists such as Amaia, Enrique Bunbury, Nathy Peluso, Iván “Melón” Lewis, Reinier Elizarde “Negrón”, Michael Olivera, Luís Guerra, Gonzalo Grau and La Clave Secreta, Bitty Mclean, Tumbakin, Compota de Manana, Papa Orbe, Manu Masaedo, Perico Sambeat (ESMUC Big Band), The Gramophone All Stars Big Band, Judit Nedermann, Andrea Motis, Lluc Casares and Al Tall, amongst others.
In the field of cinema, he has composed the soundtracks for the films *La Mort de Guillem* (2020) – nominated for ‘Best Soundtrack’ at the Valencian Audiovisual Awards – and *Llobàs* (2023). Furthermore, his songs have been featured in the films “Matria” (2023) and “La Fúria” (2025). In his more electronic role as a producer and beatmaker, he is the creator of two beat-tapes: “A Tribute to Dorothy Ashby” (2019) and “Turbo” (2022).
