Born in Barcelona, Josep Buforn trained with Maria Jesús Crespo and received guidance from pianists such as Peter Bithell, Luiz de Moura, Nina Drath and Nina Svetlanova. He graduated from the Conservatori Superior Municipal de Música de Barcelona with an Honour Award and subsequently continued his studies in London.
With a professional career spanning more than twenty-five years in recital, opera and chamber music, he has served as pianist for the Orfeó Català and the Choir of the Gran Teatre del Liceu. He regularly collaborates with institutions such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu, L’Auditori de Barcelona and the Palau de la Música Catalana, as well as international festivals such as the Peralada Festival and competitions such as the Tenor Viñas.
In the field of recitals, she has shared the stage with artists such as Josep Carreras, Piotr Beczała, Violeta Urmana, Martin Muehle, Nicholas Brownlee, Saioa Hernández, Pene Pati, Josep Bros, Amina Edris, Iván Ayón, Carlos Chausson, Elena Pankratova, Sara Blanch, Serena Sáenz, Begoña Alberdi and Marta Mathéu, amongst others.
In opera productions, he has worked with conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Oren, Marco Armiliato, Gianandrea Noseda, Josep Pons, John Adams and Kazushi Ono.
He combines his artistic career with international recital projects and masterclasses, and has been invited to perform in concert halls and theatres in France, the United States, Greece, Germany, Mexico, Austria, Jordan, Oman and China, amongst others.
