Live Room Conservatori Liceu is enhanced with two new cycles in its programme: MUSIC + and CONVERSATIONS WITH

These new programming’s are added to the Wednesday and Thursday sessions of the Liceu Jam Sessions cycle.

The Conservatori Liceu Foundation, thanks to the patron of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation, introduces two new series to the programme of the Live Room Conservatori Liceu: MUSIC + and CONVERSATIONS WITH.

The MUSIC + series proposes a fusion of music with other disciplines such as physics, the environment, and literature. With a pedagogical focus, these concerts offer new forms of artistic expression, providing a window for classical music for a deeper interaction with the audience. The activities feature the music of professors and students from the Conservatori Superior Liceu.

The first concert, titled “Music and Nature: Sonic Dialogues on Our Planet”, is scheduled for February 20, 2024, at 7:00pm. This activity will explore the connection between music and nature, with Nacho Peres, Responsible for Permaculture at the Ferrer Sustainability Foundation, guiding attendees through a sonic journey full of discoveries about our natural environment.

The second activity, “Music, Immigration and Travels: Itineraries of Discovery and Evolution”, will take place on April 15, 2024, also at 7:00pm. With the participation of Ousman Umar, Founder of NASCO. Attendees will immerse themselves in an experience that explores the links between music and immigration, offering a unique perspective on journeys and migrations that have influenced the evolution of music.

Finally, the third event, “Music and Physics: Exploring the Cosmos through Vibrations,” is planned for May 7, 2024, also at 7:00pm. Directed by Eugenio Coccia, Director of the Institute of High Energy Physics (IFAE), this activity will take attendees on a fascinating exploration of how music and physics intertwine to provide new perspectives on the cosmos.

Each concert offers a unique opportunity to learn and reflect, combining music with globally relevant themes.

As for the CONVERSATIONS WITH series, it provides an active dialogue space between music and other artistic and intellectual realms. Its book presentations offer a unique opportunity to delve into essential topics related to the role of music in society and its future.

Some upcoming highlighted presentations include: On February 26, 2024, at 7:00pm, the presentation of “Josep Colom. Un pianiste de culte” (Dinsic), a deep exploration of the life and work of an exceptional pianist, a professor at the Conservatori Superior Liceu, written by Oriol Pérez i Treviño. On March 4, 2024, at 1:00pm, the presentation of the book “El jazz suena en el corredor de la muerte” (Editorial Crítica) by pianist and former student Albert Marquès, analysing the relationship between jazz and the human experience in extreme moments. On March 5, 2024, the presentation of “Early Jazz: Its Roots and Musical Development”/“Los comienzos del jazz. Sus raíces y desarrollo musical” (Acantilado), by Gunther Schuller will take place. And finally, on April 23, 2024, at 7:00pm, a meeting around “Paisajes del Romanticismo Musical” (Galaxia Gutenberg), by professor Benet Casablancas, an immersion into the sound landscapes of musical Romanticism and its influence on contemporary music.

These presentations offer a platform for the exchange of dialogue and reflection on key aspects of music and its relationship with contemporary society and culture.

Tickets to MUSIC + and CONVERSATIONS WITH activities are free, but reservations through Koobin are necessary.
