Settled in New York as a jazz pianist and composer, Jazz graduate Albert Marqués presents in his book the unique experience resulting from knowing the story of Keith LaMar, a prisoner for 30 years on death row trying to prove his innocence and the perversion of a racist system that sentenced him to the death penalty without a fair trial. After months of friendship, Albert, with the collaboration of Keith LaMar, created the album Freedom First, presented in a series of concerts in America and Europe in which LaMar participated via telephone, reciting his writings. This extraordinary experiences is the basis of “El jazz suena en el corredor de la muerte”, the book that Albert Marqués will present at the Live Room as a testimony of how music can truly change people’s lives and contribute effectively to the Flight for a better world.
