On July 19, the Colombian Consulate in Barcelona, in collaboration with the Liceu Conservatory Foundation and the Generalitat de Catalunya, commemorated Colombia’s National Day with the event “The green of all colors”, where Colombian culture and Catalan tradition were intertwined in a symphony of music, dance and color.
The evening began with the words of Mrs. Maria Serrat, General Director of the Liceu Conservatory Foundation, who highlighted the institution’s relationship with Latin America and especially with Colombia, the country of origin of many talented musicians who have been trained at the Conservatory. Afterwards, Mrs. María Paula Martínez, First Consul of Colombia in Barcelona, expressed her gratitude to the participating institutions and Mr. Francesc Vilaró i Casalinas, former Secretary General of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya, highlighted the importance of the Colombian community and cultural diversity.
Oscar Arboleda, Director of the LATIR Festival, gave way to the music and the public present was able to enjoy the talented Colombian artists Katie James, María Mulata, Alexandra Zabala and the Catalan singer Mayte Martín, accompanied by Latin American musicians Pablo Giménez, Checho Fernández, Miguel Guerra Guerrero, Guillermo Gómez Álvarez, Gustavo Poliotto and Juan Pablo Rodríguez Berbín.
This event celebrated Colombian culture through music, strengthening the cultural ties between Colombia and Catalonia, promoting the diversity and richness of traditions.
The concert was also made possible thanks to some Colombian companies such as Avianca, Café Aromas, Ikualo, Constructora Bolivar, Colpensiones, Merica Foods, Colombiana, the law firm of Paula Tobon. In addition to the Liceu Conservatory Foundation and the Generalitat de Cataluña.
This activity is part of the Liceu Conservatory Foundation’s Ibero-American Collaboration Program, through which the institution has established institutional agreements with conservatories, universities and cultural organizations in several Latin American countries such as Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, Cuba, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Brazil.
Colombia occupies a special place in this program, not only because of the large percentage of young Colombians among the Latin American musicians who have studied at the Liceu Conservatory, but also because of the richness of the cultural and educational projects in which they have participated and their social impact.
