This year, the Liceu Conservatory took part again in the annual reception organized by Barcelona Global, that was held on last September 13th at the Palauet Albéniz in our city.
Hola Barcelona! Cocktail welcomed a host of international professionals who have chosen Barcelona to live, in a meeting where networking, culture and gastronomy were united under the founding spirit of Barcelona Global: turning Barcelona into a pole of attraction for international talent.
Thus, once again the Liceu Conservatory showed its commitment to this objective, as an institution actively involved in the task of Barcelona Global.
On this occasion, a string quartet formed by the students of our center Marta Guillén, Andrea Talavera, Pau Vall and Paula Sánchez enlivened the evening with the performance of some surprising arrangements of popular music and great hits of rock and pop, written by students of our Composition Department.
The event, conducted by Bibiana Ballbè and Tony Anaga, included speeches by Staffan Schüberg, Jelena Trajkovic Karamata (representing Esteve and Nestlé), the CEO of Barcelona Global, Pau Guardans, and the Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau.
Barcelona Global is a private, independent and non-profit organization designed as a platform with the aim of promoting the ideas and projects of citizens, as well as those of the 175 business schools, universities, cultural institutions and the almost 800 professionals who form it and who are concerned about the future of the city. The objective is to attract talent and make Barcelona progress, becoming a world model for excellence and economic activity.
It should be noted that this task is carried out in many different ways and, specifically in the world of music, it is carried out through initiatives such as being one of the members of Barcelona Obertura, the big project that unites the great musical institutions of the city with the idea of turning the classical music programming of our concert halls into an element of attraction for the audiences from all over the world.
