The students from the Centre Superior at the Liceu Conservatory Foundation demonstrated their talent at the XI String Competition “Cidade de Vigo”, held on 8, 9, 10 and 11 December at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Vigo, obtaining several prizes.
Martina Armengol Tort, won the top prize in category C for Cello. Martina is a student of Professor Lluís Claret and a scholarship holder of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
Dai Mar López obtained an honourable mention in the highest category, D, in violin. Dai Mar is in the second year of Advanced Studies with Professor Corrado Bolsi on a scholarship from the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
Finally, Vega Rodríguez Pérez won the second prize in category A in violin. Vega is a student of Professor Jordan Tejedor in the Music Training programme.
The “Cidade de Vigo” String Competition has registered in this edition a record number of participants with 81 string musicians, students from schools in Spain and Portugal, in the categories of violin, cello, viola and double bass. The competition is organised by the Asociación Galega de Instrumentos de Cuerda -AGIC- with the collaboration of the Concello de Vigo, the Diputación de Pontevedra, the Xunta de Galicia and the sponsorship of the Vigo company, Ibercisa Deck Machinery.
