Alexis Pérez Arrúa, 6th year piano student at the Centre Professional Conservatori Liceu and Liceu Júnior scholarship holder of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation with professor Tensy Krismant, wins second prize in the 21st edition of the Intercentros Melómano Competiton in the professional category.
The Final Phase of the competition took place on the 10th of December at the Auditorium of the Diputación de Alicante-ADDA where 17 winning students from different regional phases participated and only 5 reached the final, among them our student Alexis Pérez Arrúa. The regional phases of the professional category of the 21st edition have been taking place throughout the month of November, where 170 students from all over Spain participated, and the autonomous phase of Catalonia took place in the Pau Casals Auditorium in El Vendrell, on 26th November, with Alexis Pérez Arrúa as the winner.
The jury for this edition was formed by Francisco Escoda, concert pianist, pedagogue and clinical psychologist; Irene de Juan, pianist, musicologist and music broadcaster for Radio Clásica; David del Puerto, guitarist and composer, winner of the National Music Prize; Cristóbal Soler, orchestra conductor and president of AESDO (Spanish Association of Orchestra Conductors); and Alfonso Carraté, president of the Orfeo Foundation, organiser of the competition, and director of the Intercentros Melómano.
The Certamen Intercentros Melómano is an initiative of the Orfeo Foundation created in 2002 with the aim of encouraging the active participation of young musicians in the final stages of their formal musical training in professional competitions. It has two categories, one aimed at students in higher education and the other aimed at students from conservatories and professional centres. The prizes in both categories are concerts, on tour in different auditoriums throughout Spain, with the firm commitment to promote the start of the musical careers of the winning young performers.
