Last Wednesday, June 26th at 7:00 PM, the NEXOS concert took place in the orchestra hall of the Liceu Conservatory. The first concert in a series of inter-institutional concerts between the Liceu Conservatory of Barcelona and the National University of Music of Peru.
The evening began with opening words from the academic director of the Conservatory, Victor Estapé, followed by those of the Consul General of Peru, Luis Pablo Salamanca Castro.
During the concert, students from the Liceu Conservatory performed Peruvian pieces by composers like Claudia Sofía Álvarez, Mark Contreras Waiss, Álvaro Ocampo Grey, Diego Berrospi, and David Alonso Aguilar. All of them students or alumni of the National University of Music of Peru. Similarly, another concert will be held in Peru, where university students will play works and compositions by students from the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona.
This concert is part of the Collaboration Program with Ibero-America, initiated in 2001 by the Liceu Conservatory Foundation. The program develops academic and artistic activities in nine countries in the region (Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Cuba, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Chile, and Brazil), including the exchange of teachers and students, as well as the development of joint artistic activities.
This event stems from the institutional collaboration between the Liceu Conservatory Foundation and the National University of Music of Peru, which began in 2005 and was renewed in 2023 with the visit of Lydia Fátima Hung Wong, President of the Organizing Committee of the UNM (National University of Music). Over these two decades, various joint initiatives have stood out, including exchanges of talented students such as Ximena Agurto, Diego Berrospi, Diego Enrique Achauanco, Madeleine Gutiérrez, Lorena Cristina Aranda, César Santiago Sánchez, Angela Sevilla, Deysi Jiménez and Juan Carlos Fiestas, among others.
This activity is the result of the close collaboration between the Universities and the Liceu Conservatory Foundation and is a clear testament to the transformative power that arises when two committed entities work together to promote culture and the arts. This joint effort aims to strengthen the ties between the participating institutions, as well as to enrich the cultural landscape of both countries, creating new opportunities for learning and artistic expression.
