The Liceu Conservatory’s Higher Education Center has started the new 2018-2019 academic year for the young musicians who study its different Master’s programs.
As every year, the directive and academic board celebrated a ceremony to welcome the new students, in which we could listen to the words of the Liceu Conservatory’s General Director, Maria Serrat, the Academic Director Víctor Estapé and the Heads of Department of the different itineraries in which a Master’s program is offered. They explained the objectives and characteristics of these study programs, aimed at perfecting professional musicians in an environment of high academic excellence.
The event was attended by students of the different itineraries of Orchestral instruments, Piano and Singing (61% of those enrolled), Jazz and modern music (11%), Chamber music (14%) and Applied composition to audiovisual media (14 %).
It is noteworthy that this 2018-2019 academic year there are 80 students who enrolled a Master’s program at the center (from the 68 in the last year). Moreover, once again, more than 50% of them come from non UE countries, mostly Latin America countries, as well as UEA and other Asian countries.
Mainly, the predominance of foreign students is caused by the continuity and success of the attractive scholarship program that is managed by the Liceu Conservatory Foundation along the valuable collaboration of patrons such as the Banc Sabadell, MRW, Damm, Yamaha Music Europe Iberica, Avellana-Ortiz-Bajet-Mediabilla or Fundación Carolina-Abertis. Thanks to them, every year many young musicians are able to come to study these Master’s studies at the Liceu Conservatory.
