Titled “Música i Natura”, the concert allowed the enjoyment of a vast repertoire performed by professors and students, in a new format that encouraged reflection on the relationship between music and our natural environment.
The Live Room Conservatori Liceu, the new space for coexistence, music and culture within the building of the Advanced Music Centre, offered last Tuesday, February 20th, the first concert of the Música+ series. The large audience that filled the various areas of the Live Room enjoyed a different musical experience, a concert in a new format made possible by the diverse features offered by the space.
The evening began with the words of Maria Serrat, the General Director of the Conservatori Liceu Foundation, and Sergi Ferrer-Salat, President of the Conservatori Liceu Foundation and the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation (which made the Live Room Conservatori Liceu a reality through its sponsorship).Both emphasized the importance of conducting musical activities with awareness of the social and cultural environment in which they take place, highlighting the many possibilities that the Live Room opens up for imagining concerts in new formats that make it evident.
The first concert of the series, under the direction of Professor Corrado Bolsi, was titled “Música I natura, sonorous dialogues about our planet” and presented a repertoire of great originality, consisting of works or movements that somehow invited reflection on the question posed by the title.
Students of Orchestral Instruments and Singing (with the special participation of Professors Corrado Bolsi, Gisela Curtolo, Paul Cortese, Charles-Antoine Archambault, Guillem Pérez-Quer, and Christian Farroni) formed the various vocal and instrumental groups that performed pieces by Igor Stravinsky, Claudio Monteverdi, Toru Takemitsu, Steve Reich, Takashi Yoshimatsu, and Charles Ives.
In accordance with the characteristics of the Música+ series, the concert “Música I Natura” featured the intervention of Nacho Peres, Responsible of Permaculture at the Ferrer Sustainability Foundation, who, during the intervals between musical performances, shared reflections on what Nature represents for humanity in our time and the need to not distance oneself from it, or ignore it, but to return to living in a healthy and enriching relationship with it. His words were accompanied by images suggesting the beauty and fundamental unity of everything that surrounds us, from the shape of galaxies to the structure of mineral and plants.
The concert and the originality of the format, both in the arrangement of performers and audience, as well as in the repertoire or the combination with the words of the guest speaker, were met with an enthusiastic applause from the audience. Representing a very good starting point for Música+, and for the many musical and cultural activities that can be enjoyed in the upcoming months at the LiveRoom Conservatori Liceu.
