Once again this year we present the Liceu Jove cycle, the space that gives the students of the Centre Superior de la Fundació Conservatori Liceu the challenge of demonstrating on stage what they learn in the classroom.
This year, the inaugural concert will be on Wednesday 14th December with the Conservatori Liceu Symphonic Band, conducted by Xavier Pagès-Corellà, will perform Ralph Vaughan Williams’ English Folk Suite, Johan de Meij’s Aquarium and Bert Appermont’s Egmont.
The next concert will be that of the Orquesta Clásica, on Friday 16th December, conducted by Daniel Mestre, who will perform F. Schubert’s Symphony No. 3 and the Suite de la Cançó del Lladre in four movements with original music by the students Composition Ferran Reig, Laura Rodríguez, Somayed Heidarvand and Manel Palacín.
On Wednesday 21st December we will enjoy two concerts: first the Small Ensembles with the Conservatori Liceu Guitar Orchestra conducted by Sergi Vicente and the Flute Ensemble conducted by Christian Farroni, and then the Lyric Scenes with the students of the Singing Department accompanied by the Conservatori Liceu Orchestra, performing the programme “Widerspiegeln. Enmirallant-nos en Mozart” under the stage direction of Anna Ponces and the musical direction of Manel Valdivieso.
The cycle will continue until June, and in this edition we will also be able to enjoy the classical repertoire of the Symphony Orchestra and the Symphonic Band; the Small Ensembles, which will offer the best of chamber music; in the Lyric Scenes we will be able to enjoy the new talents of singing and opera; the Chamber Choir and the Women’s Choir with a large repertoire of vocal polyphony; the Ensemble Liceu XXI, which will explore the music of our time, with special attention to the works written by students finishing their studies in Composition. We will also be able to enjoy the consolidated Jazz and Modern Music Large Ensembles: the Liceu BLAM Collective, the Liceu Big Band, and the Liceu Gran Ensemble. There will also be several concerts dedicated to solo performance by students from the Piano, Guitar and Wind departments with the recitals “Pianissimo” and “ConTrastes”.
The Liceu Jove is presented as a very attractive musical proposal that helps students to fully prepare for their leap into the professional world while they are still in their training period. It also provides a great opportunity for the city’s music lovers to access repertoires of great interest and multiple formats (from the intimacy of chamber music to the large format of symphonic and operatic productions), as well as a great stylistic variety (from great lyric works to contemporary and newly created repertoire, including jazz and modern music).
Thanks to the sponsorship of the “la Caixa” Foundation, the public has access to a wide range of music in a magnificent venue, the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of Barcelona’s Raval neighbourhood, recognised as one of the best of its kind in Spain.
Enjoying today the talents of tomorrow.
