This year’s edition has had to adapt to health precautions and will be held online
Between June 9 and 21, the V International Guitar Festival will take place, organized by the Sergio Arboleda University School of Arts and Music. Due to the constraints related to the pandemic, it will be held online.
As a result of the institutional collaboration agreement between the Conservatori del Liceu Foundation and the Sergio Arboleda University of Colombia, the Festival will have the participation of Guillem Perez Quer, Manuel Granados and Sergi Vicente, teachers from the Guitar Department of the Liceu Conservatory.
This year’s call, in such difficult circumstances, has a special meaning in that it reaffirms the value and need of music and art in hard times, as a tool for creativity, and a transforming element of society, and as a token of union between people from all over the world.
The Festival aims to be a meeting point in which the repertoires, composers and performers of a such an important instrument in the history of culture are valued, creating bridges between artists and researchers and those interested in attending the performances and get to know the thoughts of relevant people in the world of the guitar. A total of 18 activities, by leading guitarists from 11 different countries, will include concerts, conferences and master classes, carried out online: the concerts can be attended in rela time on YouTube and the lectures, interviews and master classes can be watched through Facebook. The Festival will program music from genres and repertoires of very diverse origins (Brazil, China, Spain, Colombia and Italy) and will feature other instruments such as the cello and the Guzheng, as well as the premiere of various new guitar works.
