Thanks to the new collaboration agreement, which has been recently signed between the Liceu Conservatory, Fundación Carolina and ICETEX, our center will be part of the 2018 ICETEX – Fundación Carolina Colombia Young Artists Talent Scholarship’s program.
It is a further step in the expansion and continuity of the collaboration that has been carried out between the Liceu Conservatory and the most renowned educational institutions of that Latin American country. Those agreements have made possible many activities and exchange of professors. Furthermore, Colombia is the country with a bigger contribution of students among those who benefit year by year from the Liceu Conservatory’s studies offer within the Fundación Carolina – Abertis Scholarship’s program.
Thus, this 2018-2019 academic year our center will welcome the recent winner of the 2018 edition of this scholarship, violinist Julián Andres Rey Peñaranda, who will study an Official Master’s Degree in Classical and Contemporary Music Performance.
Due to the importance of the agreement, this scholarship was granted in an official ceremony during the Tribute to Scholars XV edition. It was presented by the Ambassador of Spain in Colombia, Pablo Gómez de Olea Bustinza and Manuel Esteban Acevedo-Jaramillo, president of ICETEX. It is a recognition that has the aim to promote Colombian artists with great talent in various artistic fields, and who will have the opportunity of developing their skills in the most prestigious education environments.
Julián Andrés Rey is a member of the Colombia Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and professor at the Autonomous University of Bucaramanga, where he was born. In 2010 he won the Bank of the Colombia Republic’s National Call for Youth Talent and he has participated in many music festivals in his country.
The Liceu Conservatory has been collaborating since 2003 with the Fundación Carolina. Since then, many students have been able to study at our center. Since 2014, Abertis has joined this program, making possible its continuation through founding the scholarships.
