Once again, the Liceu Conservatory Auditorium was the venue for the Ferrer-Salat Scholarships Concert. The scholarship recipients showcased their immense talent in front of an audience that filled the hall.
On May 8th, the 15th Ferrer-Salat Scholarships Concert – Liceu Conservatory took place at the Liceu Conservatory Auditorium, where attendees enjoyed the talent and interpretive excellence of students who received scholarships in previous editions. During this same event, the very special and exciting moment occurred when, exclusively, the winners of the new edition of the Ferrer-Salat Scholarships and the Excellence Scholarships were announced.
The General Director of the Liceu Conservatory Foundation, Ms. Maria Serrat Martín, welcomed the audience alongside Ms. Gemma Verdés, Director General of Students from the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya, representing the Counselor of Education, who addressed the audience filling the Liceu Conservatory Auditorium to celebrate the success of this call, now in its sixteenth edition.
In this call for applications, there were 250 candidates, 176 for the Quadrennial Scholarships and 74 for the Excellence Scholarships.
The Ferrer-Salat Scholarships Concert at the Liceu Conservatory Auditorium showcased a rich diversity of musical styles in the program performed by the scholarship recipients of the Ferrer Music Foundation. The evening included pieces ranging from romantic classical music, contemporary compositions, to outstanding examples of chamber music from the Renaissance and classicism, as well as a jazz and modern music repertoire, including a composition by one of the Composition scholarship recipients. After the concert, Mr. Víctor Estapé, Academic Director of the Liceu Advanced Music Conservatory, read the names of the winners of the Ferrer-Salat Scholarships — Liceu Conservatory on behalf of the jury. The scholarships are for pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Music at the Liceu Conservatory Foundation’s Advanced Center, beginning in the 2025–2026 academic year. The event concluded with the words addressed by Mr. Sergi Ferrer-Salat, president of the Ferrer Music Foundation and the Liceu Conservatory Foundation, to the attendees, especially the new scholarship recipients. Praising their talent and artistic efforts and congratulating them for being selected, he reminded them how fortunate they were to have the opportunity to pursue excellence and the support they have in a world where millions of people lack access to very basic needs and where many young people like them cannot have the education they enjoy. After recalling the serious military or environmental conflicts of our complex present, Mr. Ferrer-Salat insisted that they should not only be great musicians, but also true social activists.
This firmly consolidates a constantly evolving project, initiated in 2010, when this significant collaboration between the Ferrer Music Foundation and the Liceu Conservatory Foundation began with the aim of working together to ensure equal opportunities in accessing music education for young talents, with the conviction that music is a fundamental element in personal formation and social progress.
Thanks to all the participants, and to the Ferrer Music Foundation and its president, Mr. Sergi Ferrer-Salat, for their strong commitment to music as a factor of social transformation and the generosity with which they contribute to making it a reality, providing full support to young talents and teaching them to understand their art with responsibility, in the context of our society and our time.
