The Conservatori Liceu Foundation participated in the Chamber Music Festival organized by the Zhejiang Conservatory of China, which this year reached its seventh edition. Christian Farroni, flute professor and Head of the Wind Department of the Conservatori Liceu and Dario Mariño, clarinet professor of the Conservatori Liceu visited the Zhejiang Conservatory from September 9 to 11, 2024, participating in the masterclasses and concerts organized by the festival.
Christian Farroni, conducted the master class “Playing style analysis of classical flute Works” addressed to all flute students of the Conservatory and other participants. Dario Mariño gave a master class entitled “The art of Clarinet, Playing through the Century”. Afterwards, they offered a trio concert (flute, clarinet and piano) with works by Francis Poulenc, Russell Peterson, among others.
This academic activity is part of the collaboration agreement signed by the Conservatori Liceu Foundation and the Conservatori de Zhejiang, whose objective is the mobility of students and teachers, as well as the realization of joint academic activities that promote the role of music as an instrument to overcome cultural and linguistic differences and as a bridge of mutual understanding.
The Agreement is part of the initiatives that the Conservatori Liceu Foundation has been carrying out for years with counterpart institutions in China and that have allowed the development of numerous activities such as the presentation in 1999 of Mozart’s opera Der Schauspieldirektor in Beijing and other Chinese cities, the presentation of the Zhejiang Youth Orchestra at the Conservatori Liceu Auditorium in 2018, and the China-Spain International Music Competitions (Edition 2020 Violin and Edition 2021 for violin, flute and clarinet). It should also be remembered the musicians coming from China who in recent years have carried out their musical training in Barcelona in our Higher Studies and Master programs of Liceu Conservatory.
