Last Thursday, February 8th, the Orchestra Hall of the Conservatori Liceu hosted a concert featuring students from the Mexican Conservatorio de las Rosas. The event was attended by the Consul of Culture of the General Consulate of Mexico in Barcelona, Mr. Antonio Labra, the General Director of the Conservatori Liceu Foundation, Dr. Maria Serrat, and the Rector of the Conservatorio de las Rosas, Mr. Raúl Olmos, among other authorities and members of the Mexican community in Barcelona.
After the welcome remarks by the General Director and Mr. Raúl Olmos, the concert took place, offering a journey through lyrical repertoire and Mexican music, featuring the former students of the Conservatorio de las Rosas: Andrea Gabriela Arredondo, a distinguished Mexican soprano who graduated with honors in 2023, and was recognized by COPARMEX for her academic excellence. And the pianist Andrés Sierra, also graduated from the Conservatorio de las Rosas and collaborator of the Orchestra of the Universidad Michoacana.
This event is part of various initiatives carried out over the last decade, resulting from the collaboration between both institutions, which have been working together since 2003, where their commitment to artistic excellence and the promotion of young talents being is highlighted. The Conservatorio de las Rosas, founded in 1743, is the oldest conservatory in Latin America and has established itself throughout its history as a musical institution of reference in Mexico.
