As part of the Institutional Collaboration Agreement, the Liceu Conservatory Foundation participates in the CiMa International Music Festival, an event organized by the Department of Music of the University of Caldas and which this time will be held virtually. The rich program of the Festival will include several concerts and master classes by professors and students from the Conservatori.
The Festival includes three important spaces: the academic forum, the instrumental training workshops and master classes and the concerts. In this edition, musicians, composers and musicologists from more than 14 countries will participate, amon them United States, Spain, Germany, Syria, Argentina, Italy, Uruguay, France, Venezuela, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong and Colombia.
Professor Víctor Estapé, Academic Director of the Conservatory, will opened the Festival on October 13 at 6:00 p.m. (Spain Time) with the Master Class Silent Music: A perspective on the Catalan Pianistic School that had the participation of the students of the Piano Department Sara Pinaque (Fellow of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation) and Marcel Homar.
That same day the Festival hosted two concerts, one by the Duo Athrodeel Ahmad & Aseel, formed by Ahmad Dyab and Aseel Massour, students from the Conservatory presents oriental music mixed with the flamenco soul, at 11pm. (Time Spain) and the Conservatori Liceu Saxophone Quartet, Delia Quartet, a group of young saxophonists formed in September 2019 at the Superior Center of the Liceu Conservatori Foundation, under the tutelage of Albert Julià, Saxophone Professor and head of the Music Department Center Chamber. The Quartet is made up of Estel Vivó, soprano saxophone; Queralt Vivó, alto saxophone; Aaron Lara, tenor saxophone; Pol Cabrera, baritone Saxophone
On October 14th. there will have master classes by Mathew Simon, Jazz Trumpet teacher at the Conservatori del Liceu and José Carlos Cubas, a former student of the Conservatori who will give a class on Latin Jazz.
Finally, on October 16, the concert of the Conservatori Liceu String Quintet, Novel Quintet, will be presented, a group formed in September 2018 by students from the Liceu Superior Music Center. Its members are Fellows of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation: Pol Coronado, violin; Oriol de Antonio, violin; Elena Lasheras, viola; Berta Delicado, cello; Enric Bassacoma, double bass.
This activity is part of the international program of the Fundación Conservatori Liceu and of its Collaboration Program with Ibero-America that began in 2001 and in which academic and artistic activities are developed in 8 countries. The University of Caldas is a public institution of reference in education in Colombia. The Institutional Collaboration Agreement has enabled numerous joint activities to be carried out. Some of its graduates have completed Music Postgraduate and Master studies at the Liceu Conservatory and today they are professors at the University of Caldas such as Uriel Marín or Juan Carlos Valencia, among others.
