The Liceu Conservatory celebrates Sant Jordi with the presentation of the novel L’escuma, by the young writer Helena Guilera, former student of the Liceu Conservatory Foundation. The event will take place in the Live Room Conservatori Liceu next April 20 at 6:00 p.m., accompanied by various musical performances.
Helena Guilera (Barcelona, 1993) studied Piano Performance at the Liceu Conservatory with Professors Miquel Farré and Tensy Krismant, and Literary Theory at the University of Barcelona. She has worked as a literary agent in the UK and currently works as an editor. She has published stories in the magazines Branca and Sol Ixent, and has collaborated in the PEN Català magazine Visat. L’escuma is her first novel.
The editorial Edicions del Periscopi has expressed the character and content of L’escuma with the following words: “In this musical and delicate work, Helena Guilera offers us a choral story about bodies and love. A text that tells how close we are to the forces of the Universe, often without knowing it. And he explains to us how these can come to define us, even though we consider them distant and unattainable”. The writer Míriam Cano has defined it as “A metaphor about desire, attraction, death and life itself”.
The Live Room Conservatori Liceu, which will host the event, is the new space that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu, thanks to the patronage of the Fundació de Música Ferrer-Salat, has recently promoted, and that offers diverse cultural programming, as well as many possibilities for musical performances and events in new formats.
In this presentation, the pieces El cant dels ocells, and Dido’s Lament from the opera Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell will be performed. Both pieces have an important meaning in L’escuma.
