Mikhail Voskresensky, a Russian pianist of international renown, stands out for his technical virtuosity and profound interpretative depth. In his recitals, one can hear a broad repertoire that includes classics such as Beethoven and Chopin, as well as Russian masters like Rachmaninoff. On this occasion, a program featuring works by great masters such as Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Frédéric Chopin, and Edvard Grieg will be presented.
His career has taken him to prestigious concert halls across the globe, establishing him as a global icon and a cultural bridge through music. Furthermore, as a professor at the Moscow Conservatory, he has trained generations of outstanding pianists, ensuring the transmission of his artistic legacy. Celebrated for his passion and dedication, Voskresensky is more than just a virtuoso pianist: he is a pillar of classical music and a testament to the transformative power of art.
Born in the city Berdyansk (Ukraine), he graduated from Moscow Conservatory. His teachers were Lev Oborin, Ilia Klyachko, Jacob Milstein, Boris Zemliansky and Leonid Roizman (organ). His career began from performance of Chopin’s 2nd piano concerto in Warsaw with the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra under the button of Eugeny Svetlanov. In 1957 he played the European premiere of Shostakovich 2nd Concerto in Prague Spring Festival at the presence of composer himself, who highly estimated his performance
He has been a professor of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, head of chair of the piano faculty. Since 1992, he is also guest professor of Toho Gakuen School in Tokyo. His pupils won more than 120 international prizes, including 61 gold medals. He has adjudicated in many international competitions as well as Tchaikovsky and Scriabin Competitions in Moscow as a chairman of the jury.
He was awarded the highest artistic title in Russia, “People Artist of Russia”, the Japanese Order “the Rising Sun”, the Russian “Imperial House Medal of Saint Anne”, the “Nicolai Rubinstein Gold Medal” of Moscow Conservatory, among others.
In June of 2022, he left Russia, with his family, as a protest against the war in Ukraine, and he immigrated to the USA.
