In this tenth edition, the series solidifies itself as one of the most important initiatives in its field, once again becoming a highly anticipated meeting place for students of the Conservatori Liceu to meet world-renowned masters. Furthermore, it is an unmissable event for music lovers in Barcelona, where they can enjoy high-quality live concerts.
In this masterclass, trombonist Jonas Blyund will share his knowledge of the instrument and his experience as a performer.
Born in Sweden, he studied at the Stockholm Music Academy and became principal trombonist of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. He won first prize at the CIEM International Soloists Competition in Geneva in 1988 and, in the following year, he was awarded with the second prize at the ARD International Competition in Munich. Although he was offered the position of principal trombonist at the Bavarian Radio in Munich, he stayed in Oslo until 1990, before becoming principal trombonist in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Stockholm until 1995. In the 1992/1993 season he was also principal trombonist with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. He is a founding member of one of the world’s leading brass ensembles, the Stockholm Chamber Brass.
He has performed as a soloist with European leading orchestras, including the Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Oslo Philharmonic, Bavarian Radio Orchestra, Orchestre de Suisse Romande, Czech Philharmonic Brno and BBC Scottish Orchestra.
As a musician and guest lecturer, he has participated in prestigious music festivals around the world: the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Stockholm New Music Festival, the Lieksa Brass Week, Bad Kissinger Sommer and Bad Kissinger Winterzauber, the Melbourne International Brass Festival, and the Instrumenta Oaxaca Mexico. He works side by side with contemporary composers such as Anders Hillborg, Sven-David Sandström, and Piers Hellawell, to name just a few. He is regularly invited to be a member of the jury at national and international competitions including the International Music Competition in Geneva in 1998, the Prague Spring in 2004, and the ARD International Music Competition in 2007.
He has been professor at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover since 1995. His students have won prizes in national and international competitions such as the ARD Competition, the Prague Spring, the Christian Lindberg Trombone Competition, the International Brass Competition in Gdansk and the Aeolus Wind Competition. Some of them hold positions with the Dresden Staatskapelle, Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin, NDR Symphony Orchestra Hamburg, SWR Symphony Orchestra Freiburg, Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Orchestra, Essen Philharmonic, Hanover State Opera, Wiesbaden State Theater, Polish National Philharmonic, Warsaw, Hong Kong Philharmonic.
