Born in Brussels, he started playing the guitar at the age of nine. He studied at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional in Lille with Jean-Philippe Gruneissen; at the Conservatoire Royal in Bruxelles with Ilse and Nicolas Alfonso; and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris with Alexandre Lagoya and Carel Harms. During his training years, he also attended masterclasses led by Leo Brouwer, Sharon Isbin, Costas Kotsiolis, Ichiro Suzuki and Kai Nieminen.
A laureate of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, the European Union’s Émile Noël Prize and the Frères Darches Prize from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels’ Heritage Commission, he performs recitals and gives concerts and masterclasses in Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, the USA and Canada, both as a soloist and accompanied by harpist Susanna Mildonian, flautists Maxence Larrieu, Marc Grauwels and Denis-Pierre Gustin, the La Monnaie String Quartet, actor Charles Kleinberg, and orchestras including the Belgian National Orchestra, the Orchestre National de Chambre de Toulouse and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo.
He performed at the closing concert of the festivities celebrating the 60-year reign of King Baudouin at the Heysel Stadium, and was a guest artist at the EU Pavilion at the World Fairs in Seville and Shanghai. He is a regular guest on Belgian and international radio and television stations (RTBF, Télé-Bruxelles, Arte, TV5, etc.) and is a regular member of the jury for the Jeunes Solistes and Jeunes Musiciens competitions.
He founded the Brussels International Guitar Festival & Competitions in 2012, and is its President and Artistic Director. The 14th edition of this event, which is the most important guitar competition in Belgium, will take place in November 2025. He is also the founding president and artistic director of the Brussels Guitar Concerts, the Brussels Guitar Master Classes, the Brussels Classical Guitar Society, and the Classical Guitar Society of Belgium.
He is regularly invited to sit on the jury of national and international competitions in Brussels, Alessandria (Italy), Klagenfurt (Austria) and Paris.
He has recorded five CDs and is one of the few guitarists to play the ten-string guitar.
Since 1999, he is professor and Head of the Guitar Department at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels – École Supérieure des Arts.
