Liceu Cambra Masterclasses & Concerts cycle offers an exceptional selection of masterclasses taught by outstanding international figures in the fields of creation and performance. In this tenth edition, the cycle consolidates itself as a leading pedagogical and artistic initiative, bringing Conservatori Liceu students closer to the most renowned masters and becoming an essential meeting point for music lovers in Barcelona.
This masterclass will be taught by the Japanese pianist Akiko Ebi, who has a recognized international career and has performed with prestigious orchestras around the world. She has played a significant role as a pedagogue, passing on her knowledge and experience to future generations of pianists.
She developed her career after winning the 41st Japan Music Competition in her first year at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. After graduating from the Paris Conservatory, she studied at the Paris Conservatory’s graduate school. She has received numerous awards and honors, including the “Frederic Chopin Society of Japan” Prize, two Japan “Gold Disc Awards”, the “Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” from the French government, a medal as an honorary citizen of Paris, and the “Exxon-Mobile Music Award” in Japan.
She has long been active as a global artist. She has so far performed in 36 countries, including Japan, numerous countries in Europe and North America, Russia, and China. She has appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras including the NHK Symphony, the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony, the Warsaw National Philharmonic, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Monte Carlo Philharmonic, the Argentina National Symphony, the Slovak Philharmonic and the Orchestre du Sofia.
A two-piano duo concert performed by herself and Martha Argerich was televised to wide audiences in countries throughout Europe and in Israel and Japan as well. She has performed in many of the world’s major concert halls including the Theatre des Champs-Elysees, the Salle Pleyel, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, and the Berlin Philharmonie. In recent years she has been actively involved in the instruction of young musicians and is a sought-after teacher of master classes in countries around the world. Since 2016 she has been regularly invited to give master classes at Liceu Cambra Masterclasses & Concerts.
