Salomé Osca

Viola

Salomé is a violist born in Madrid in 1997 and a member of the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona since November 2021. She is currently also a collaborator with orchestras such as the Budapest Festival Orchestra and the National Orchestra and Choir of Spain.

She completed her higher education at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona with Professor Ashan Pillai, supported by an Academic Excellence Scholarship from the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation. At the end of her studies, she received the Special Chamber Music Award as a member of the Amika Kvartet string quartet. In 2019, she moved to Berlin to pursue a master’s degree at the Universität der Künste with Prof. H. Jochen Greiner, also guided by Prof. Hartmut Rohde.

She has also trained with international artists such as Danusha Waskiewicz, Thomas Selditz, Pauline Sachse, Hartmut Rohde, Joaquín Riquelme, Alejandro Regueira, Veronika Hagen, Quartet Casals, Thomas Ribl, and Artemis Quartet, among others.

In 2023, she premiered the piece ERIT LVX, dedicated to her by composer David Cantalejo, during a concert tour that was part of the Youth Musical Networks 22-23 program, alongside pianist Juan Carlos Cornelles. This same piece has recently been recorded by the violist and will be included in a compilation CD of works by the same composer.

In recent years, she has begun exploring her role as an educator and has been invited to teach at the Young Symphony Orchestra of Barcelona and at the Manuel de Falla Music School in Alcorcón, where she began her musical studies under the guidance of Remei Silvestre.

Throughout her career, she has been awarded the First Prize at the Hazen Young Performers Competition (2007); the Barenreiter Prize as a finalist in the Permanent Competition of Youth Musical Networks (2016); First Prize at the XII Higini Anglès Chamber Music Competition and Second Prize at the City of Barcelona Chamber Music Competition, as part of the Amika Kvartet. She was a finalist at the Intercentros Melómano Competition (2017) and received the 2nd Prize at the Vigo City String Competition (2018) and the 2nd Prize at the XXI International Viola Competition of Llanes (2019). Thanks to these distinctions, she has had the opportunity to perform in various venues nationwide, especially in the Community of Madrid and Catalonia.

She has been a member of young orchestras such as JONDE and EUYO, which, along with her professional career, have provided her with opportunities to perform in concert halls around the world, including the Elbphilarmonie Hamburg, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Konzerthaus Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Opera-Bastille in Paris, the Royal Opera House of Muscat, and the NCPA in Beijing, among others.

She plays a viola made by Austrian luthier Peter Mörth, built in 2020.
