Manuel Martínez began his percussion studies with Pep Soler and completed his Higher Studies at the Valencia Superior Conservatory of Music with Manel Ramada. He widened his training in Barcelona with Gratiniano Murcia and Lorenzo Ferrándiz. He has also followed advanced courses with Mark Braafhart, Marinus Komst, Gustavo Gimeno, Juanjo Guillermo, Raúl Benavent, Esaú Borreda or Andy Barclay, he has been part of young orchestras such as the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme, the Young National Orchestra of Spain or the Young Galician Orchestra. Already as a professional, he has collaborated with orchestras such as the Rotterdam Philharmonisch Orkest, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Royal Opera House Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchester de Paris, the National Orchestra of Spain, the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa or the OBC. Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, conducted by masters such as Valery Gergiev, Lahav Shani, Gustavo Dudamel, Antonio Pappano, Esa Pekka Salonen, Sir Mark Elder, Thomas Adès, Pablo Heras Casado, Josep Pons, Edo de Waart, Philippe Herreweghe, among others . He has been active as a teacher in master classes and summer courses in Valencia, Antwerp, Teruel or Merza, and has also been a teacher in young orchestras such as JONDE and JONC. He has played in chamber ensembles such as the Natalia Ensemble, Grupo Enigma, Abbatia Viva Music Collective, among others, and has been a founding member of the percussion duo Akt-tek percussion duo Project. In 2013 he moved to Antwerp, to join the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra as co-principal percussionist. Since 2018 he has been a member of the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
