Violinist and pedagogue Jordán Tejedor Saralegui has developed an intense artistic and teaching career that has established him as one of the leading figures in the training of young violinists of his generation. His pedagogical work has resulted in numerous students receiving prizes at national and international competitions, many of whom are currently pursuing studies at prestigious European institutions or have already embarked on distinguished professional careers as soloists, chamber musicians and teachers.
He began his musical studies in his native Zaragoza under the guidance of Sławomir Arziński. At the age of fourteen, he continued his artistic development with Gonçal Comellas, a mentor who would profoundly influence his career and under whose tutelage he completed his higher violin studies at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona.
He subsequently continued his training with distinguished international teachers, including Mauricio Fuks (a direct student of Ivan Galamian and Jascha Heifetz), Adam Korniszewski (Brussels) and Joshua Epstein (Saarbrücken), both representatives of the Franco-Belgian tradition linked to the legacy of Eugène Ysaÿe. He later completed his studies with Boris Kuschnir in Vienna from 2004 onwards.
He has also received artistic guidance and advice from renowned musicians and composers such as Agustín León Ara, Maxim Vengerov, Florin Szigeti, Ruggiero Ricci, Antón García Abril, José Peris Lacasa, Jordi Cervelló and Igor Oistrakh, among others.
In the field of chamber music, he studied with the Enesco Quartet of Paris and with Joshua Epstein, member of the Bartholdy Quartet.
Winner of the First Prize at the 2002 Juventudes Musicales de España Permanent Competition in the string instruments category and recipient of the Silver Medal at El Primer Palau 2003 at the Palau de la Música Catalana, Jordán Tejedor is regarded as one of the most distinguished Spanish violinists of his generation.
His appearances as a soloist include performances of some of the most representative works of the violin repertoire, such as the concertos of J. S. Bach, W. A. Mozart and J. Brahms, with ensembles including the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra (ORTVE), the Gonçal Comellas Chamber Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia (JONC) and the Symphony Orchestra of the Hochschule für Musik Saarland in Saarbrücken, among others, performing in major concert halls and festivals throughout Spain and Europe.
He has also made numerous recordings as a soloist with orchestra and in violin-piano duo for Los Conciertos de La 2 (TVE), Radio Clásica (RNE) and Catalunya Ràdio.
He is a founding member of the Massià Trio, an ensemble created in tribute to the violinist Joan Massià i Prats, one of the most important figures of the Catalan violin school and an heir to the Franco-Belgian tradition of Eugène Ysaÿe through Alfred Marchot. Joan Massià played a fundamental role in the development of Catalan violin playing during the twentieth century and was the teacher of distinguished violinists such as Gonçal Comellas, Gerard Claret, Xavier Turull, Santiago Giménez Cervera, Jordi Cervelló and many others.
He is regularly invited to serve on the juries of national and international violin and chamber music competitions. In recent years, his students have won first prizes and achieved outstanding results in competitions including Music Competition Vienna, the International Geneva Junior Music Competition, the Spanish National Intercentros Competition for Higher Education, the CullerArts International Violin Competition, the Barcelona International Young Artists Competition (BIYAC), the China–Spain International Competition, the Victoria International Competition, the Paderewski Prix Competition, the Les Corts International Music Competition (CIM Barcelona), the Villa de Molina Competition and the Villa de Bilbao Competition, among many others.
His passion for teaching has led him to maintain an intense and ongoing pedagogical activity, giving masterclasses at conservatories, festivals and international music courses.
Throughout his academic career, he has served as Professor of Violin and Head of the String Department at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón (CSMA), as well as Professor at the Faculty of Music of Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio (UAX).
He is currently on voluntary leave from the Spanish Corps of Music and Performing Arts Teachers in order to pursue his teaching activities as Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at ESMAR Valencia/Madrid and at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona.
