Born in Siegburg, Germany, oboist Barbara Stegemann was trained at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich and at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne with great oboe specialists such as Jean-Louis Capezzali, Günther Passin, Ingo Goritzki, François Leleux, Stefan Schilli or Maurice Bourgue, among others.
She has been the winner of awards such as the 1st Prize in the Jugend Musiziert Contest (2003), the 2nd Prize in the Lions Germany Contest (2011) and has been a semifinalist in compeittions such as the Japan Contest (2012). She has been part of chamber groups together with Sergio Azzolini, Sharon Kam, Lars Vogt, among others. She has performed at the Gstaad Festival, the Peralada Festival, the Sine Nomine Festival in Lausanne, or the Enescu Festival in Bucharest and has played as an oboe soloist in orchestras such as the Gstaad Festival Orchestra, the NDR Radiophilharmonie in Hannover, the Operanhaus in Zürich, or the Berner Symphonieorchester among others. She has also been a member of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne between 2014 and 2018. Since 2018 she has the position of oboe soloist in the Symphony Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona.
