The visit represents the consolidation of close relations with the Chinese center, which also recently visited the Liceu Conservatory
On October 23, as part of the institutional collaboration agreements with the Shanghai Conservatory in China, Academic Director Víctor Estapé, Head of the String Department Corrado Bolsi, and Head of the Wind Department Christian Farroni visited the institution, met with its management team, and gave master classes.
The Conservatory professors were welcomed by Pei Xiaoqian, President of the Shanghai Conservatory, and by several professors, including some who recently visited the Liceu Conservatory.
Professors Bolsi and Farroni listened to and gave advice to violin and flute students as part of the masterclasses they gave, while Prof. Estapé gave a lecture dedicated to the analysis of Catalan music for piano.
This visit is part of the important institutional relationship that the Liceo Conservatory has had with China since 1999, which has been particularly strengthened since 2018 with various agreements and activities. As part of this collaboration, last September the Liceo Conservatory, as already mentioned, enjoyed a visit from President Pei Xiaoqian and several teachers from the Shanghai Conservatory. During this visit, Professor Ma Yong, a transverse flute teacher at the Chinese center, offered a masterclass for undergraduate and master’s students. Subsequently, with the collaboration of Casa Asia, the Confucius Institute Foundation of Barcelona, and the Zhong-Xi-Qiao Intercultural Association, the Liceu Conservatory Autumn Auditorium hosted a concert by professors from the Shanghai Conservatory.
With this double visit, the Liceu Conservatory has deepened its collaborative relationships with Asian institutions and established stronger ties with the Shanghai Conservatory, one of the most prestigious music education centers in China and Asia.
