Amparo Lacruz, professor of the Liceu Conservatory and renowned cellist, has been invited to participate in the next Cello Biennale Amsterdam 2018, which will be held there from next October 18th to 27th.
This is the first time that this renowned event with international feedback wants to count on one of our teachers, who will be accompanied by its Higher Center’s students and alumni, with an active main role in the festival’s agenda.
Thus, beyond attending all the events, on the 25th Amparo Lacruz and the young cellists will offer a concert, within the Students of the World concert series.
With the Bachelor’s students Laura Martí, María Cardona, Carmela Cristos, Paula Sánchez (who has been awarded a Liceu Conservatory scholarship to pursue Master studies at this center) and alumni Celia Torres, Carla Rovirosa, Carla Peña, Aleix Sala, Violeta González and Pau Marqués, they will offer an interesting program with great prominence of the contemporary Catalan repertoire, with works by Cervelló (Un cant a Pau Casals), Guinjoan (Elegia and Díptic), Magrané (Petit ofici elegíac), Berteau (Trio op. 1) and Yamamoto (Shula).
In addition to the concert, Paula Sánchez and Carmela Cristos will take part as active students in the masterclasses which are scheduled during the Biennial. Surely, it is a great opportunity for their training as cellists.
The Cello Biennale in Amsterdam is a ten-day international music festival revolving around the cello. With over 100 events in every space of the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ and the Bimhuis, it has become a pole of attraction for performers and music lovers from around the world.
In spite of the main role of classical music, the festival has also opened to other cultures, jazz and improvisation, and it has in the National Cello Competition or the pedagogical project Hello Cello some of its most awaited moments.
