

The 6th Liceu Sax Festival is herel!
Once again, for the sixth year, the Liceu Sax Festival will take place.
From 12th to 14th of April 2024, we will experience three intense days of saxophone-related activities at the Liceu Conservatory: masterclasses, concerts, conferences, workshops, round-table discussions and 2nd International Chamber Music Competition of the Liceu Sax Festival, part of a unique project aimed at promoting the saxophone and its importance in the music scene.
The Festival is organised biennially by the Fundació Conservatori Liceu with the sponsorship by Yamaha. It was founded in 2014 and since then it has gathered a growing number of participants, achieving a great quality of guest artists and participants. Throughout these years, the Liceu Sax Festival has counted on internationally renowned artists such as Jean-Yves Fourmeau, Paweł Gusnar, Albert Julià, Xavier Larsson, Otis Murphy, Nicolas Prost, Joao Pedro Silva, Kenneth Tse, Marc Vilanova i Carla Obach.

2nd International Chamber Music Competition of the Liceu Sax Festival
April 11 and 12, 2024
The Liceu Sax Festival, organised by the Fundació Conservatori Liceu and sponsored by Yamaha, brings the 2nd International Chamber Music Competition of the Liceu Sax Festival to support the artistic career of young chamber music ensembles.
The competition will be held in two rounds, the Selection and the Final. The whole program will consist of free-choice repertoire. The repertoire presented in both rounds of the Competition: the Selection Round, on April 11, 2024, in which the ensembles can present approximately 10 minutes of music and the Final Round, on April 12th, 2024, with a program of 20 minutes per finalist.
The competition offers a First Prize consisting of EUR 1.000, a D’Addario product package + JLV clamp and participation in the Closure Concert of the Liceu Sax Festival; a Second prize of EUR 1.000, a D’Addario product package + JLV clamp; and an Audience Award with a Certificate and a Masterclass with one of the Liceu Sax Festival Artists.

The Jornada Júnior (Junior Day) of the Liceu Sax Festival will take place on April 13, 2024. This modality is aimed for students from 7 to 15 years old, from music schools and conservatories from Catalonia. The price includes lunch and supervision by “monitors”.

Come to the Jornada Júnior of the Liceu Sax Festival

The Jornada Júnior (Junior Day) of the Liceu Sax Festival is intended for saxophonists from 7 to 15 years old, who want to spend a day surrounded by masters of their
instrument. We will be able to meet great saxophonists such as Nobuya Sugawa, Javier Ocampo, João Pedro Silva, Iñaki Bermúdez and Carla Obach.
The day will focus on the elementary areas to grow as saxophonists, musicians and colleagues with workshops, talks, rehearsals and concerts where they will learn from great international artists and professional saxophonists.
We will divide the students according to age into 3 groups, 7-9 years old, 10-12 and 13-15. The ages are indicative and the teacher can always request a change of group.
