The Conservatori Liceu Foundation, within the framework of the World Peace Forum in Barcelona, presents “Music and Peace”, a space for reflection on the role of music in the construction of Peace.
The event will begin with a Round Table with the participation of Colombian musician Cesar Lopez, non-violent messenger of the UN and founder of the Battalion of Immediate Artistic Resistance, and Fabio Hernando Arias Orozco, Rector of the University of Caldas in Colombia, who in a conversation with Xavi Ayen, Editor-in-Chief of Culture of La Vanguardia, will reflect on the fundamental role of music as a tool to promote peace, contribute to mutual understanding and overcome armed conflicts.
This will be followed by the Concert for Peace, which includes the participation of Colombian singer-songwriter César López, creator of the Escopetarra, a musical instrument with a highly symbolic meaning, as it is an AK-47 rifle converted into a guitar. López’s project aims to provide escopetarras to outstanding musicians around the world. Thanks to the collaboration of Casa Amèrica de Catalunya, we will be able to listen to this instrument. In his performance, César López will have the collaboration of Diana Hoyos.
The students and teachers of the Conservatori Liceu will contribute their music with pieces and songs that have much to do with the longing of Pau to which this concert wants to give voice. The Leonardo 4 Children Foundation will also present in this concert the performance of several young music talents that come from several countries or areas that have been affected in recent times by war.
Entrance to the event is free, but subject to limited seating. To guarantee your place, we invite you to reserve your ticket through the Koobin platform.
