The Trio Rigamonti was founded in 2012 at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Como by the three brothers Miriam, Mariella and Emanuele. In 2019 he obtained the Level II Master in Chamber Music with distinction, at the A. Boito Conservatory of Parma and in 2020 it was admitted to the class of the Cuartetto di Cremona, at the Stauffer Center for Strings. The group enriched its training with relevant international personalities, such as J. Meissl, Atos Trio from Vienna, L. Hagen, K. Zlotnikov, A. Lucchesini, A. Valentino, M. Mika, I. Zats, Y. Savary and D. Waskiewicz. Recently, the trio has been accepted into the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA).
For more than nine years, the Trio Rigamonti has regularly performed at prestigious Italian and international festivals and in 2022 won the second prize (the first prize was not awarded) at the prestigious Ysaye International Music Competition in Liege (Belgium). Other recent achievements are the Premio Miglior Ensemble Italiano, at the first edition of the Premio Internazionale di Musica da Camera Filippo Nicosia in Faenza, victory at the Concorso Internazionale di Musica da Camera Carlo Maria Giulini 2021 in Bolzano, and the 14th International Chamber Music Competition Cameristi dell’Alpe Adria in Udine. The trio was also nominated Ensemble of the Year 2020-21 within the Le Dimore del Quartetto circuit, receiving a scholarship from the Fondazione Morosini in Milan, and was awarded the Giovani Eccellenze Prize 2022, organized by the Universum International Academy Switzerland.
Mariella and Emanuele play two early 20th century Italian instruments: a G. Pedrazzini violin and a G. Sgarabotto cello.
Promoted by the Associazione Musicale IN MUSICA VERITAS, the Borsa di Studio Internazionale for quartets and young chamber groups is a tribute to Filippo Nicosia, diplomat, man of culture and music lover, who always recognized musical talent by supporting and promoting it with enthusiasm. His professional and human commitment is an example for all young people who dedicate themselves to the study of music, where qualities such as perseverance, tenacity, strength, intelligence and sensitivity are fundamental requirements. Thanks to this scholarship, Filippo Nicosia will continue to make his valuable contribution to the world of music and to many young performers.
