On next Sunday, 20th of July, the Liceu Conservatory Foundation will participate in the celebration of Colombia’s National Day, organised by the Colombian Consulate in Barcelona, Barcelona City Council, the Old Town District, Palau Martorell, Casa R.A.R.O., On Site Projects, and Eix Comercial del Raval. This event is a tribute to the life and work of Colombian artist Fernando Botero.
The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. at Palau Martorell with the close of the Fernando Botero exhibition, followed by a traditional Colombian parade from Plaça de la Mercè to Botero’s Cat statue at the Rambla del Raval, where the Liceu Conservatory Big Band, conducted by Sergi Vergés and made up of students and alumni of the Conservatory, will offer a concert of traditional Colombian music, specially arranged for this occasion.
