The Ensemble Liceu XXI, focused on contemporary music, works on important pieces of avant-garde music or the music itself that is written in the classrooms of the Conservatori Liceu by the center’s composition students. This group trains students in the interpretation of contemporary repertoire, but also brings the most current and newly created music closer to the public, establishing itself as an artistic offer of great interest in the musical programming of our city dedicated to new musical languages.
On this occasion, four works by four fourth-year students will premiere: El camí del vent, by Pau Albèniz; …und dann, Stille by Lluís Ferreiro; Multiforme by Albert Muñoz; and Concertino for Clarinet by Manuel Torralba, with Roger López Gironella as the soloist.
Thus, this concert represents a unique opportunity to access what the composers of our time do, but also for the authors themselves, who have an open window within their reach at the Liceu XXI to show the world their creative work. In this way, among key works of the contemporary repertoire, the Liceu XXI programs place special emphasis on the creations of fourth-year Composition students, who this year graduate with the opportunity to present a large-scale work performed by a group of high-level performance students under the guidance of experts in modern repertoire.
The Liceu Jove is presented as a very attractive musical proposal that helps students fully prepare for their leap into the professional world while they are in their training period. It also provides a great opportunity for music lovers in the city to access repertoires of a great stylistic variety (from great lyrical works to contemporary and newly created repertoire, passing through jazz and modern music).
