Yonathan Avishai & Omer Avital will offer a master class on October 17 at the Higher Center of the Fundació Conservatori Liceu, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which within October and November 2023 will schedule master classes, meetings and concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place mainly in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
Pianist Yonathan Avishai and double bassist Omer Avital consider that the duo formation offers «a unique and concentrated musical experience». Accustomed to playing each other’s music in different formations such as the Third World Love Quartet and Avital’s quintet, they return to Barcelona to propose this intimate, chamber-like experience, «but always with the feeling that there is a party right there next to it». Israelis who share Yemenite Jewish origins, their common heritage is reflected in their music and original compositions, always deeply rooted in the jazz tradition.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 12 years with the Voll-Damm Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
Masterclasses such as that of Yonathan Avishai & Omer Avital are one of the most important bets of the Liceu Conservatory, which enrich the academic experience of students and music lovers in our environment on their way to professionalism, allowing them to play and interact with the great masters of the current jazz scene.
Feel free to take part in this event which is part of a unique proposal in the country that wants to bring the best jazz to students and music lovers!
