Yamandú Costa will offer a master class on November 19 at the Higher Center of the Fundació Conservatori Liceu, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which from October to December 2022 will schedule 19 master classes and 26 concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
Yamandu Costa started playing the guitar at the age of 7 with his father Algacir Costa, leader of the musical group Os Fronteiriços. He honed his skills with Lucio Yanel, an Argentine virtuoso living in Brazil. Until he was 15 years old, his only school was the regional music of southern Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. After listening to Radamés Gnatalli, he carried out a new research on other Brazilian musicians such as Baden Powell, Tom Jobim, Raphael Rabello, among others. Yamandu Costa stands out for his virtuoso performances of choros and bossa nova. But in fact he is passionate about all musical genres such as milongas, tangos, zambas, chamamés and other rhythms belonging to Brazilian culture.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 11 years with the Voll-Damm Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
Masterclasses such as that of Yamandú Costa are one of the most important bets of the Liceu Conservatory, which enrich the academic experience of students and music lovers in our environment on their way to professionalism, allowing them to play and interact with the great masters of the current jazz scene.
Feel free to take part in this event which is part of a unique proposal in the country that wants to bring the best jazz to students and music lovers!
