As part of the celebrations marking the 15th anniversary of the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts series, the Liceu Conservatory Foundation welcomes again pianist Vijay Iyer, who will give a masterclass.
Vijay Iyer has carved out a unique path for himself as an influential, prolific and multifaceted figure in 21st-century music. As a composer and pianist who is active and highly regarded across multiple musical communities, Iyer has created a body of work that has been consistently innovative and emotionally resonant over the past three decades, earning him a place as one of the most prominent musical creators of his generation. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards and honours: a MacArthur Fellowship, a Doris Duke Award for the performing arts, a US Artist Fellowship, three Grammy nominations and the Alpert Prize in the Arts. He is currently a professor at Harvard University.
This event forms part of Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts, the series organised by the Liceu Conservatory Foundation, which is celebrating 15 years of keeping jazz alive through masterclasses, concerts, performances by the conservatory’s students and jam sessions. The series’ masterclasses are organised in collaboration with the Barcelona Jazz Festival and with the patronage of the Ferrer Music Foundation.
