Shai Maestro will offer a master class on October 20 at the Higher Center of the Fundació Conservatori Liceu, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which from October to December 2022 will schedule 19 master classes and 26 concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
Shai Maestro (1987) is one of the most promising and talented pianists of his generation. Since his debut with his own trio in 2011, Shai Maestro has carved out a strong and unique personal identity and portrayed incredible musical fluidity, making Shai Maestro and his band one of the most powerful and harmonious groups in jazz today.
Through his trio, Shai Maestro has developed his own sound that has received critical acclaim from DownBeat Magazine, NPR, BBC, JazzFM, TSF and WBGO’s The Checkout. He has collaborated with musicians such as singer Theo Bleckmann, drummer Mark Guiliana and saxophonist Ben Wendel. In recent years, Shai Maestro has been invited to perform with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Keitaro Harada.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 11 years with the Voll-Damm Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
Masterclasses such as that of Shai Maestro are one of the most important bets of the Liceu Conservatory, which enrich the academic experience of students and music lovers in our environment on their way to professionalism, allowing them to play and interact with the great masters of the current jazz scene.
