Rafael Riqueni will offer a master class on November 26 at the Higher Center of the Fundació Conservatori Liceu, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which from October to December 2022 will schedule 19 master classes and 26 concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
The guitarist Rafael Riqueni, is one of the greatest guitarists and composers in the history of flamenco. As a child he was a precocious musician who caused a sensation for his creative ability, he debuted when he was only twelve years old and received his first national awards at the age of fourteen. In 2017 he received the XXXI Compás del Cante, an award that several media describe as the “Nobel of Flamenco”.
Riqueni’s music takes Flamenco as its base and his style evolves with influences from classical music and contemporary music, a process that It was guessed on his first album in 1986 “Juego de Niños”, which will be the first chapter of one of the most celebrated discographies in the history of Spanish music, where he offers innovative harmonic and compositional concepts that begin to define his unmistakable style with classical influences.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 11 years with the Voll-Damm Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
