As part of the celebrations marking the 15th anniversary of the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts series, the Liceu Conservatory Foundation welcomes again the guitarist Mary Halvorson who will give a masterclass.
Mary Halvorson is a guitarist, composer and artist based in Brooklyn, renowned for her innovative style within contemporary jazz. For over two decades, she has stood out for her unique sound and has received numerous awards and accolades. In 2019, she was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship and has been named Guitarist of the Year by DownBeat’s critics on multiple occasions. As well as leading her own ensembles, she has featured on more than 75 recordings as a collaborator. This year, she is focusing on her new quartet, Canis Major, with Dave Adewumi, Henry Fraser and Tomas Fujiwara.
This event forms part of Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts, the series organised by the Liceu Conservatory Foundation, which is celebrating 15 years of keeping jazz alive through masterclasses, concerts, performances by the conservatory’s students and jam sessions. The series’ masterclasses are organised in collaboration with the Barcelona Jazz Festival and with the patronage of the Ferrer Music Foundation.
