Maria Schneider will offer a master class on November 6 at the Higher Conservatory of Music Liceu, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which within October and December 2024 will schedule master classes, meetings and concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place mainly in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
Maria Schneider is an acclaimed composer and orchestra conductor known for her innovative approach to large-format jazz. Her music, which combines elements of jazz, classical music, and nature sounds, creates rich and immersive soundscapes. Through her orchestra, Schneider explores the emotional and technical complexities of music, being an influential and respected figure on the international scene. Schneider has already visited the Liceu Jazz previously, offering masterclasses in 2015 and 2021. On this occasion, she will direct the Clasijazz Big Band, a formation featuring some of the country’s best jazz musicians.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 13 years with the Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
Masterclasses such as that of Maria Schneider are one of the most important bets of the Liceu Conservatory, which enrich the academic experience of students and music lovers in our environment on their way to professionalism, allowing them to play and interact with the great masters of the current jazz scene.
