Kurt Rosenwinkel and Jean-Paul Brodbeck will offer a master class on November 30 at the Higher Center of the Fundació Conservatori Liceu, within the Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series, which from October to December 2022 will schedule 19 master classes and 26 concerts by renowned jazz artists, turning the city of Barcelona into the nerve center of international jazz. These activities will take place in the Auditori Conservatori Liceu, a space located in the heart of the Raval district, fully consolidated and recognized as one of the best of its kind in our country.
American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Kurt Rosenwinkel has received wide international acclaim for his guitar skills and unique voice since he first appeared on the New York music scene in 1991.
Throughout over the years he has created a unique sound that has become an indisputable legacy in the history of the electric guitar. With more than 150 recordings as a sideman, and numerous projects as a leader with very diverse formations, Rosenwinkel is one of the most important figures in current jazz, although in recent years his artistic curiosity has led him to experiment with less orthodox sounds.
On the other side, Jean-Paul Brodbeck, after taking jazz lessons with Hans Feigenwinter, studied classical music with Peter Efler (piano) at the Conservatory of Music in Basel. Since then Brodbeck has demonstrated his stylistic versatility in various formations. Brodbeck often performs in a trio, works as a sideman in various formations and teaches at the Jazz Department of the Conservatory of Music in Lucerne, Switzerland.
The Liceu Jazz – Masterclasses & Concerts concert series is part of the close collaboration that the Fundació Conservatori Liceu has maintained for 11 years with the Voll-Damm Barcelona Jazz Festival, with the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation.
Masterclasses such as that of Kurt Rosenwinkel are one of the most important bets of the Liceu Conservatory, which enrich the academic experience of students and music lovers in our environment on their way to professionalism, allowing them to play and interact with the great masters of the current jazz scene.
